With the sun shining, the Centenary ANZAC service at Tasman School had a big turnout of over 100 people.
Organised and led by Richard Easton who did a beautiful job, with a local historian, Nigel McFadden giving a harrowing account of what the soldiers faced as they arrived in Gallipoli.
The students of Tasman School read out names of the fallen locals, the flag was lowered to half mast to the sound of the Last Post. It was a very moving ceremony.
The ceremony was followed by morning tea which was organised by the Tasman Area Community Association.
Tasman Village had 52 men go off to WWI - including 3 to the Boer War. Thirteen were killed in action and their names are etched into the cenotaph at the bottom of the school grounds. Along with these names are 5 who were killed in the WWII.
